Try To Remember" a time when this romantic charmer wasn't enchanting audiences around the world.
The Fantasticks is the longest-running musical in the world and with good reason: at the heart of its breathtaking poetry and subtle theatrical sophistication is a purity and simplicity that transcends
cultural barriers.

IT’S ONLY A PLAY (Comedy) by Terence McNally
On Broadway it starred- Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick, Stockard Channing, Megan Mullally. A
bitingly funny spoof on what it takes to make a show a hit. It's opening night on Broadway, and the
real fun is going on upstairs as the cast and friends anxiously await the reviews.
Director- Jerry Jensen (directed regional premier of the original at Theatre Memphis in 1988).
Artistic Director- Kris Coffelt
Peter – The playwright – 30’s – had a first time hit starring his friend, James Wicker, and hopes this
will be the second. “Everything is riding for him on tonight”.
Julia – The novice producer. Rich, mature, attractive and genuinely pleasant.
Ira – A minor critic. Very sure of himself, but despised in the theatre community.
Frank – The wunderkind director. Dark. Intense. Ego-driven, but filled with self-loathing.
Virginia – The star; a larger than life successful but fading film actress, hoping to revive her career
with this play. Has a fondness for recreational drugs, and wears an electronic bracelet on her ankle
James– The best friend of Peter. A charming expansive former stage actor, his successful television
series prevented him from doing Peter’s second play. Part was written for James Coco who
performed it originally, and played on Broadway by Nathan Lane.
Gus – The young temporary help – aspiring actor “fresh off the farm”.
